Five Rules for Laid Back Entertainment
Do you ever worry about the pressure of entertaining guests? It can seem like a pain, and have you sweating from the pits. But for a laid back night to go super well, you need to know the rules for easy entertaining. That means being open to ideas, having some sort of activities in mind, offering something to munch on, keeping the tone lively, and of course, making sure the house is clear of barking dogs and crying babies.
1. Be open for ideas. The night is supposed to be a fun, sociable event that doesn’t leave anyone out and keeps everyone’s spirit high. Talk with everyone beforehand about how the night should go or suggest an “all in favor” vote at the beginning of the night.
2. Have something planned. While staying open to new ideas, it’s good to have some sort of ideas floating around in your head. Maybe the mention of Pictionary will send your social group flying. Just be sure to have art easels and dry erase markers handy.
3. Include snacks and drinks. You don’t have to be a world class chef and cook up pretentious hors d'oeuvres and serve wine and cheese . Simply pick up some chips and dip, whip out the salsa, and offer up some brewskies and your party will be a big hit.
4. Keep the environment inviting. Music is a great mood setter. Anything such as subtle decorating and ambient lighting or sounds can make for a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.
5. Bring the kids to the babysitter and the dogs to the kennel. You don’t want an unnecessary loudness, clutter, or nuances clouding up the party time. Be sure to clean up your house and make sure that the surroundings are welcoming and hospitable.
Lastly, use your imagination and look up party themes or popular games. The more choices you have the better your entertainment will be. We all know it's not the queen's abode but we would like to keep boredem to a minimum.
